Pink Wash kick off!

Pink Wash: The Comrades’ Dance Party officially launched on 9/7/2024, bringing together an unforgettable lineup of radical comrades. The event was hosted by the fierce Ms. Tongo Lele and Mama Ganuush (producer), with beats delivered by DJs M4CR0, The Baptist, Louiv, and an electrifying performance by the Spotty Dancers. All proceeds from the night went straight to bail funds for detained activists, showing that this party wasn’t just about fun—it was about solidarity and direct action.

But let’s be clear: Pink Wash wasn’t just another counter-protest or alternative. This was a hella cool, unapologetic space for revolutionaries to shake their booties and feel the collective power of resistance through dance.

Radical collectives like Gay Shame, Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism, Blue Orchid Collective, and HALA Collective were out in full force, handing out some badass stickers that kept the anti-Zionist, anti-imperialist message loud and clear.

The fashion category of the night? Monochrome, of course. And the winners? A tie between the ever-legendary Birthday Willie and the iconic Star Dive Pink Barbie Jesus—because why settle for anything less than fabulous?

As the name suggests, Pink Wash is a direct critique and mockery of Israel’s Zionist propaganda campaign, which seeks to paint Israel as a “liberal, LGBTQ-friendly state” to distract from the violent occupation of Palestine. As Sarah Schulman and Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism have called it, this so-called liberal image is nothing more than “Pinkwashing”—a tactic to sanitize oppression under a rainbow flag.
